Job summary

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. offers a Year in Industry placement within the Procurement function, focusing on Operations & Maintenance procurement. You will gain hands-on exposure to the end-to-end lifecycle, work with stakeholders, and develop negotiation skills while supporting tender processes.

Eligible students with UK residency for vetting and a drive to contribute to the Growing Green mission are encouraged to apply. Hybrid model with three days onsite weekly at UK sites.

Qualifications

  • Ongoing studies in a relevant discipline with year-in-industry eligibility.
  • Eligible to complete a year in industry as part of the degree programme.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with good IT skills.
  • Ability to organise workloads, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Willing to travel to other sites when required; UK residency for vetting.

Responsibilities

  • Gain experience across end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from suppliers to contracts.
  • Support buying by collaborating with stakeholders and Procurement Managers.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents during the procurement process.
  • Create RFIs and RFQs using the e-tendering tool.
  • Analyse tender submissions and perform price comparisons.
  • Assist with supplier contract preparation and review meetings.
  • Organise internal and external meetings for procurement activities.
  • Develop commercial awareness and negotiation skills toward contract negotiation.

About the role
  • Gain practical experience across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from identifying suitable suppliers to contract preparation and supplier relationship management.
  • Support buying requirements by working closely with stakeholders and Procurement Managers to understand business needs.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents throughout the procurement process.
  • Build Requests for Information and Requests for Quotations using the e-tendering tool.
  • Analyse tender submissions and prepare price comparisons to support commercial decisions.
  • Assist with supplier contract preparation and contract review meetings.
  • Organise internal and external meetings as part of day-to-day procurement activities.
  • Develop commercial awareness and negotiation skills, with the opportunity to progress towards negotiating a contract independently.
Job requirements and experience
  • Ongoing studies in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Law, Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Eligibility to complete a year in industry placement as part of the degree programme.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with good IT skills.
  • Ability to organise workloads, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence working in a diverse team environment and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
  • Availability to work from an operational site three days per week and travel to other sites when required, with agreed travel to other sites covered but travel to and from the base site excluded.

  • A minimum of five years’ residence in the UK due to the potential requirement for National Security Vetting.

This position is aimed at those currently studying who are eligible for a Year in Industry Placement. For those who will be graduating Summer 2027 we encourage you to apply for our graduate programme which will be advertised in January 2027.
