Job summary

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. in Swindon offers a Year in Industry placement in Electrical Engineering. The role is full-time for 12 months with a hybrid pattern: 3 days on site and the rest from home base.

You will gain practical insight into electrical system design for offshore wind, learn about interfaces between transmission systems, substations and wind generators, and emphasize safety throughout the project lifecycle. Training and site visits are included.

Qualifications

• Ongoing studies in Electrical Engineering.
• Eligibility to complete a year in industry placement as part of the degree programme.
• Very good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate workloads independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Confidence working in a diverse team environment and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to other sites when required, with travel expenses covered.

Responsibilities

• Gain practical insight into electrical system design for offshore wind projects.
• Develop understanding of interfaces between transmission systems, onshore/offshore substations, and wind turbine generators.
• Build awareness of safety throughout project design and operation.
• Support a robust through-life electrical system design across development, construction and operation.
• Contribute to main electrical system design, including HVAC and HVDC systems.
• Create electrical system simulation models and analyse system behavior and grid code compliance.
• Visit project sites to gain first-hand insight into development and delivery.
• Take ownership of a defined project with team-agreed scope.
