Job summary

Class Act is partnering with an Outstanding primary school to recruit a Year 6 Teaching Assistant. This full-time, long-term role starts March 2027, supporting pupils in Year 6 with literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning while assisting the class teacher with lessons and activities.

The successful candidate will promote positive behaviour, safeguarding, and inclusive learning in a nurturing environment that prioritises pupil development and well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience with primary-aged children is desirable.
• Experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within a Year 6 classroom on an individual and small-group basis.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
• Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum learning.
• Help prepare pupils for end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

Duties as Year 6 Teaching Assistant:

• Understanding of Key Stage 2 learning and development
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
