Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a large, welcoming primary school in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan from September 2026. You will lead engaging lessons, differentiate delivery and prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school within a supportive team.

The role requires QTS and KS2 experience, with DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one. Salary is determined by experience and client rate, with higher rates for more senior candidates.

Qualifications

• QTS with KS2/Year 6 experience.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one via Academics.
• Two professional references from the last two years.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Year 6 lessons in line with KS2 curriculum.
• Support pupils in developing confidence and independence for secondary school readiness.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress to inform planning and next steps.
• Prepare pupils for national assessments and Key Stage 2 expectations.
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, teaching assistants and parents/carers.
