Job description

Are you a confident and inspiring Key Stage 2 teacher ready to take on the exciting challenge of a Year 6 class? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming and well-established primary school in Maidstone, known for its commitment to pupil development and high educational standards.

This full-time role is available immediately for Term 6 and is set to continue from September into the new academic year, offering the chance to build lasting relationships and make a real impact as the pupils prepare for their transition to secondary school as well as build relationships with the new cohort of students ahead of September. The role comes about due to an unexpected medical absence and the school hope to provide a caring transition for the current class as they complete their final year, as well as welcome you into the school community ahead of September to continue this as an ongoing role.

Year 6 Teacher responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons to Year 6 pupils in preparation for end-of-year assessments
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom where every pupil can achieve their potential and build pupil confidence
  • Collaborate with staff and leadership to support pupil progress and uphold school values
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement

Year 6 Teacher requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or teaching qualification recognised in the UK
  • Experience teaching in KS2, ideally with previous Year 6 experience
  • Strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum and assessment processes
  • A proactive, organised, and reflective teaching style
  • Commitment to nurturing positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
