Job description

We are seeking an exceptional Headteacher with a passion for delivering outstanding leadership, particularly in Year 6, to guide our school to new heights. If you are a dynamic, visionary leader who can inspire a team and deliver excellence, we would love to hear from you. Starting September 2025.

Duties as Year 6 Headteacher:

1. Lead and manage the school’s strategic direction, ensuring the highest standards in Year 6 and throughout the school.
2. Take responsibility for raising achievement and improving outcomes for all pupils, particularly during their transition to secondary school.
3. Work closely with staff, governors, and the community to create a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and aspiration.
4. Ensure the effective implementation of the curriculum, focusing on preparing Year 6 for SATs and the next stage of their educational journey.
5. Champion a positive, supportive school environment where all children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Ideal Year 6 Headteacher:

1. Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and ideally an NPQH (or be working towards it).
2. Have proven leadership experience, ideally in Key Stage 2, with a strong track record in improving outcomes in Year 6.
3. Have a deep understanding of the Year 6 curriculum, SATs preparation, and pupil progression as Year 6 Headteacher.
4. Be a strong communicator with the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate staff, pupils, and parents.
5. Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
