Job summary

UCM Education is seeking a dedicated Year 5 Primary Teacher to join a welcoming mainstream primary in Basildon, Essex from September 2026. The role focuses on delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum and supporting pupils' academic progress.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS, have experience in Year 5, and demonstrate strong classroom management, differentiation, and effective communication with colleagues, parents, and carers.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching within a primary school setting, ideally Year 5
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum
• Be confident in planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Committed to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment
• EWCTs with relevant primary teaching experience welcome to apply

Responsibilities

• Teaching a Year 5 class within a mainstream primary school setting
• Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils
• Assessing and monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly
• Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
• Supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
• Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging their confidence and independence
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and the wider school team
• Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
• Contributing to the wider life of the school and participating in school activities and events
