Job summary

Pertemps Education Network is seeking a Year 4 Class Teacher to cover maternity leave in Hounslow. The role is part-time, ideally Monday to Wednesday, from 30th November 2026 to end of the academic year, sharing the class with the Deputy Headteacher.

The successful candidate will lead the Year 4 class, plan and assess within the National Curriculum, foster a positive environment, and contribute to school life and safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 4.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Ability to take full ownership of a class.
  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons independently.
  • High expectations of pupil progress, behaviour and attainment.
  • Organised and reliable to work within a job-share arrangement.
  • Builds positive relationships with children, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the teaching, learning and progress of a Year 4 class on your allocated days.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum and the school's curriculum.
  • Assess pupils' progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and personal development.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Headteacher to ensure consistency across the job-share arrangement.
  • Complete planning, preparation, assessment and marking associated with the role.
  • Make effective use of allocated PPA time to plan and prepare high-quality lessons and resources.
  • Contribute fully to the wider life of the school.
  • Build strong and positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents/carers.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant parents' evenings, meetings and school events where required.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and the wider school team.

Year 4 Class Teacher – Maternity Cover

Contract: Long-Term Supply

Duration: 30th November 2026 – End of Academic Year

Hours: Part-Time – ideally Monday to Wednesday, with flexibility for the right candidate

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Year 4 Teacher to join our school on a part-time basis to provide maternity cover from 30th November until the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will take on the role of main class teacher for a Year 4 class, job-sharing with the school's Deputy Headteacher. Although this is a long-term supply position, the successful teacher will be fully integrated into school life and will be expected to take ownership of the class in the same way as a permanent member of teaching staff. The ideal working pattern is Monday to Wednesday, although there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Year 4.
  • Has strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Is confident taking full ownership of a class.
  • Can plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons independently.
  • Has high expectations of pupil progress, behaviour and attainment.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to work effectively within a job-share arrangement.
  • Builds positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
  • Is adaptable and able to become part of an established school community quickly.
  • Has a nurturing, enthusiastic and professional approach.
  • Is committed to providing consistency and continuity for pupils throughout the maternity cover period.
