Job summary

Milk Education, in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Whickham, is seeking a dedicated Year 4 Teaching Assistant to join from September. You will support the class teacher with engaging lessons, provide one-to-one and small group support, and help pupils with English, Maths and the KS2 curriculum.

The role requires recent experience with primary children, a TA qualification, excellent communication, and a proactive, patient approach.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with primary-aged children, ideally Key Stage 2.
• Teaching assistant qualification required.
• Positive, patient and proactive approach to supporting learning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Must live locally to Gateshead – no relocation.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support as required.
• Assist pupils with English, Maths, and the KS2 curriculum.
• Help prepare learning resources and maintain an organised classroom environment.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and independent learning skills.
• Encourage positive behaviour and active engagement with learning.
• Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to promote confidence and self-esteem.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents where appropriate.
• Support assessment activities and monitor pupil progress.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.
• Contribute positively to the wider school community.
