Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Year 3 SEN Teaching Assistant in Redbridge to support a pupil with additional needs, helping access classroom learning and develop communication skills within a supportive school environment. The role is full-time from ASAP until July 2027, with potential to become permanent.

You will work closely with the class teacher to implement structured routines and foster inclusion. You should have previous SEN experience, be patient, resilient and able to build trusting

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN is essential, including ASD, non-verbal, or sensory needs.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and maintain boundaries.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient with calm, consistent approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with SEN.
• Support pupils with needs such as ASD and non-verbal communication.
• Help the pupil access learning activities and routines.
• Use appropriate communication approaches to encourage engagement.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Maintain clear, consistent boundaries with patience.
• Adapt support to meet changing needs.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and school team.
• Encourage social interaction, confidence and independence.
• Celebrate progress and inclusion in school life.
