Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work in a Year 1 classroom in Fulwood, Preston. The role is Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:15pm, starting 19th October and running fixed-term until the end of the academic year, with potential extension for the right candidate.

You will support learning, run phonics interventions, and aid classroom routines, contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment for young pupils.

Qualifications

• Teaching Assistant qualification or Childcare qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience supporting young children in school, nursery, childcare or similar setting is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of early reading and phonics advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom.
• Deliver guided reading sessions to small groups.
• Plan and deliver targeted phonics intervention groups.
• Provide additional support to children needing extra help with learning.
• Encourage children's confidence, independence and engagement in lessons.
• Assist with classroom preparation and general duties.
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' social and emotional development.
