Job summary

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a friendly primary school in Firswood to recruit a Year 1 Teaching Assistant for September start. You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils academically and socially, helping them develop confidence and a love of learning.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, phonics and early literacy activities, and adapting your approach to SEND and EAL learners while promoting positive classroom behaviour and engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in a primary school setting.
• Confidence working with Key Stage 1 pupils, preferably Year 1.
• Patient, nurturing, and adaptable in approach.
• Positive, reliable, and proactive demeanor.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support Year 1 pupils in class, small groups, and 1:1.
• Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and learning habits.
• Support children with additional needs including SEND and EAL.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in activities.
• Assist with classroom prep and maintaining a stimulating environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
