Job summary

Distinction Education Ltd in Gloucester is seeking a General Teaching Assistant to join a primary school, supporting a Year 1 class and helping pupils make progress across the curriculum.

You will assist the Year 1 teacher with day-to-day activities, work with individuals and small groups, support early reading, phonics, writing and maths, and help create a welcoming, engaging learning environment while encouraging confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• Ideally, you will have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school, particularly within KS1 or Year 1.
• Previous school experience is desirable rather than essential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Year 1 teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
• Working with individual pupils and small groups
• Supporting early reading, phonics, writing and maths
• Helping children remain engaged with their learning
• Providing additional support to pupils who require extra help
• Encouraging confidence and independence
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Helping to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment
