Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Year 1 team. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual who is passionate about supporting young learners and making a positive difference in their educational journey. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

• Work closely with the Year 1 class teacher to support learning activities and classroom management.

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils, including those with additional needs.

• Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.

• Support children’s social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour.

• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

• Contribute to the assessment and recording of pupil progress.

Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally in KS1.

• A caring, patient and nurturing approach.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant.

• The ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of the class.

• An understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and early learning goals.

• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
