Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a welcoming primary school in Slough recruit a Year 1 Teacher. The role focuses on guiding pupils from EYFS into KS1, with emphasis on phonics, early literacy, and a play-based, structured learning approach.

The successful candidate will plan differentiated lessons, deliver systematic phonics, and work with TAs, SEND/EAL needs, and families to support pupil progress. EYFS transition experience is valued.

Qualifications

• UK-recognised teaching qualification with QTS.
• Experience or placement in KS1 or EYFS.
• Strong knowledge of early literacy and phonics schemes (Read Write Inc./Little Wandle/Sounds-Write).
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, differentiated lessons for Year 1.
• Deliver daily phonics sessions to build reading confidence and readiness for screening.
• Establish a supportive classroom routine bridging EYFS to KS1.
• Collaborate with TAs, SENCO, and pastoral leads to support SEND/EAL pupils.
• Build positive relationships with parents to share progress.
