Job summary

Selwood Limited in Liverpool is seeking a Yardsperson / Relief Driver to support the pump hire branch. You will assist with loading/unloading, keep the yard tidy, and ensure timely delivery of pumps and equipment to customers.

The role requires a Class 2 LGV licence, HIAB/ALLMI certification, and Tachograph knowledge. You must be physically fit and a good communicator, with a proactive, can-do attitude. Comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Full Class 2 LGV driving licence (no more than 6 points).
• HIAB/ALLMI certificate is required for this role.
• Digital Tachograph Driver Card
• Driver Qualification card and/or Periodic CPC Certification
• Experience of working in similar industry (i.e. plant, construction, hire)
• Over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
• Good communicator with a can do attitude.
• Physically fit due to the nature of the work within this role.

Responsibilities

• Keep the yard and workshops in a clean and tidy state at all times.
• Assist with loading and unloading of vehicles, checking against paperwork, missing, damages and fuel charges when needed.
• Assist fitting staff when required, with tasks as instructed, e.g. lifting, moving, in depot or on-site.
• Clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop, using pressure/steam-cleaning equipment.
• Be polite and cooperative with staff/customers, and promote the Company when on-site.
• Communicate accurately to your supervisor, work colleagues and customers re job specifications (ETA, missing/damaged items, signatures).
• Comply with all PPE requirements for Selwood or site regulations.

About The Role

To support the operations of our busy Pump hire branch, Selwood are inviting applications for the position of Yardsperson / Relief Driver to join our friendly team based our at our branch site in Liverpool.

This role will provide vital support to the branch operations and will be yard based assisting with various duties in conjunction with the loading and unloading of lorries to ensure timely delivery of our pumps and associated equipment in time to meet our customers expectations.

Please note, Relief Driver is for LGV Driver. It's essential that you have your Class 2 licence, and your HIAB/ALLMI qualification.

Task and Responsibilities within the yard:

• To keep the yard and workshops in a clean and tidy state at all times.
• To assist with loading and unloading of vehicles, checking against paperwork, missing, damages and fuel charges when needed.
• To assist fitting staff when required, with tasks as instructed, i.e. lifting, moving, in depot or on-site.
• To clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop, using pressure/steam-cleaning equipment.
• To be polite and co-operative with staff/customers, and, when on-site, be aware of promoting the Company.
• To be able to communicate accurately to your supervisor, work colleagues and customers re job specifications when required e.g. ETA's and missing and damaged items, obtaining signatures and names when delivering/collecting.
• To comply with all PPE requirements for Selwood or site regulations.

Duties within LGV coverage:

• Carry out work in compliance with Department of Transport Regulations and The Highway Code, having regard for personal safety, the safety of the workforce and the general public.
• Fully understand and be compliant with the digital Tachograph operation and drivers' hours' legislation.
• Maintain an understanding of, and full compliance with the Working Time Directive for mobile workers. Observing all statutory break periods defined under the WTD for mobile workers. Driver's hours rules must also be observed and take priority over WTD rules.
• Ensure all loading and unloading activity is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. All loads are to be positioned and secured safely and correctly to avoid overloading any of the axles and to avoid any possibility of the load moving during transit. This could include manual handling of hoses.
• Liaise with your Manager and the garage to help schedule 6-weekly vehicle safety inspections.
• Carry out daily maintenance and defect checks of the vehicle.
