Job summary

Panda Ireland is seeking a safety-focused Banksman at our Widnes site to manage vehicle movements and ensure safe yard operations.

You will work closely with drivers, weighbridge operators and site teams, outdoors in a busy environment. The role requires clear communication, vigilance, PPE compliance, inductions for first-time visitors, and the ability to follow site rules and traffic procedures, while supporting colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills required.
• Confident giving clear instructions to drivers.
• Safety-conscious and observant.
• Able to work well in a team and independently.
• Outdoor role; yard/recycling/logistics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely control vehicle movements throughout the yard.
• Give clear instructions and signals to drivers.
• Communicate with weighbridge operators and operational teams.
• Ensure first-time visitors complete site induction.
• Monitor compliance with site operating times and traffic rules.
• Report drivers who fail to follow movement instructions.
• Ensure PPE requirements are followed.
• Keep the yard clear of debris, obstacles and hazards.
• Arrange cleaning support when required.
• Assist other site teams when needed.
