Job summary

BCA in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on Yard Team Leader to run the day-to-day yard operation, lead the team and ensure vehicles are moved safely, efficiently and on time. This fast-paced role balances people leadership with operational priorities.

You’ll work with the Duty Manager to develop the team, improve processes and maintain high standards of safety, quality and customer service across the site.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor or Line Manager in an operational/logistics environment.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team.
• Confidence delegating tasks and managing competing priorities.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision making.
• Strong communication, with ability to give clear instructions and feedback.
• Focus on safety, quality and customer service.
• Ability to use IT systems, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Leading, motivating and supporting the Yard team on a day-to-day basis.
• Coaching and developing team members to peak performance.
• Recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance reviews support.
• Manage attendance, absence and workforce planning.
• Organise workloads and allocate tasks to hit priorities.
• Oversee yard layout to maximise space, efficiency and safety.
• Ensure SOPs are followed and monitor performance against targets.
• Identify and resolve operational issues quickly.
• Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with other departments to keep site operations smooth.
