Job summary

British Car Auctions Ltd is recruiting for a Site Operations and Yard Logistics leadership role in Crawley. You will oversee daily vehicle movements, supervise a team, and ensure efficient, safe operations across yard activities and site processes.

The ideal candidate will have prior line management experience, a Full UK Driving Licence, and strong organisational and communication skills to drive performance and service levels at our BCA site.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to communicate information clearly to operational team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership in the Yard area to ensure vehicle movements are timely, safe and efficient.
• Support the Duty Manager– Yard Logistics in delivering recruitment, training, performance management and wellbeing initiatives.
• Manage all elements of the employee lifecycle including onboarding and offboarding, coaching and appraisals.
• Ensure effective workforce management and adherence to working time directives and safety procedures.

Main purpose of the role:

• Toprovide day to dayoperationalleadership in theYardareaensuring required vehicle movements are completed in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
• Tosupport theDuty Manager– Yard Logisticsin thedelivery ofallelementsofeffectivepeople managementincluding recruitment,training, performancemanagement, communicationandwellbeing.

People Management:

• To manage all elements of the employee lifecycleincludingonboarding and offboarding.
• Performance management of the teamincluding training, coachingand appraisals to ensure both optimum performance and talent pipeline.
• Effective workforce management, including absence planning, ensuring optimum staff levels at all times and adherence to working time directive.
• Effective communication to team ensuring awareness of results and key priorities.

Operational Management:

• To transport vehicles across the site safely and efficiently to support production areas, buyer collections and internal and external collection agents.
• Ensure adherence to BCA Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure that quality, speed and cost targets are delivered to maximise profitability.
• Ensure the logistics team provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, supporting other departments where appropriate.
• Organise the layout and flow of the yard to optimise capacity, efficiency and safety whilst minimising onsite damage.

Technical skills:

Knowledge and Experience:

• Experience in a line manager or team leader role
