JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Yard Shunter for a full-time role based at our Beech site with responsibilities across a 15-acre yard and local yards near Stoke-on-Trent. You will move commercial vehicles, ensure safe parking and positioning, and prepare units for delivery.

Candidates must hold a valid Class 1 (HGV) licence. The role offers training, long-term career opportunities, and consistent, weekday hours (7:45am - 5:45pm) with no weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Class 1 (HGV) licence - essential.
• Experience driving commercial vehicles and working in a similar yard or logistics environment.
• Knowledge of vehicle handling and yard operations.
• Ability to work safely, efficiently, and under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Forklift or crane licence would be an advantage, but not essential.

Job description

A Yard Shunter is required in Beech, a full-time post paying between £35,000 and £40,000 per annum. The role involves moving commercial vehicles across a 15-acre site and between local yards, ensuring efficient parking and positioning. Duties include conducting vehicle checks, monitoring fuel and condition, preparing units for delivery, and maintaining a clean, safe yard. Accurate recording of vehicle and trailer movements is essential. Candidates must hold a valid Class 1 (HGV) licence. Prior shunting experience is advantageous, alongside a meticulous approach to safety and organisation. This position offers stable, long-term work within a respected commercial vehicle operator, reporting directly to the site supervisor.
