Job summary

Travis Perkins is looking for a Yard Assistant to join our branch team. You will be based at our outdoor yard, handling customer orders, loading and unloading vehicles, and helping to unload incoming stock while keeping the yard tidy and safe.

We value friendly, enthusiastic team players with good interpersonal skills who can handle heavy items and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Full training for forklift operation is provided, and you can benefit from our pension and discount schemes.

Qualifications

• This is a key customer-facing role requiring enthusiasm and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle heavy and bulky stock safely.
• Willingness to work in daytime hours with no evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Based at the yard, process customer orders, and load/unload vehicles.
• Unload building products from supplier deliveries and book them into the branch warehouse.
• Operate forklift (training provided).
• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment and follow safety guidelines.

• Our success is built on strong relationships with our customers so it’s essential that you can help deliver the highest standards of service - the key thing is to be helpful and friendly at all times, you will likely get to know our customers on a first name basis.
• You will be based outside, processing our customer orders, loading and unloading customer and company vehicles.
• You will also unload our building products from supplier deliveries and accurately book them in the branch warehouse.
• Experience of using a forklift is ideal, but don't worry full training is provided
• Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, this means maintaining a tidy and safe working environment

• This is a key customer facing role, so you will need to be enthusiastic and have great interpersonal skills.
• Be confident in your physical ability to process heavy and bulky stock throughout the Yard, within our health and safety guidelines.
