Job summary

Special Steels Ltd in the United Kingdom is looking for a Yard Person to support our production and logistics operations.

You will load/unload materials, record stock movements, prepare orders for despatch, and ensure drivers complete delivery notes while maintaining PPE compliance and a clean workspace.

This role requires a valid pendent crane and slinging license and offers an essential hands-on position within our team.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid pendent crane and slinging license.
• Ability to load/unload materials and manage stock movements.
• Experience with basic paperwork and order creation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials and book them in/out.
• Carry out dimensional inspections and create orders on the system.
• Produce shipping documentation, manifests and receipts.
• Prepare orders for despatch.
• Print delivery notes and ensure drivers complete details before release.
• Ensure subcontract drivers comply with internal PPE requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe and tidy workplace.
• Undertake any additional duties as required.
• Follow all company H&S instructions.

Special Steels Ltd are a market leader within the heat treatment industry. As a result of an increased workload we are looking for a Yard Person to join our successful business.

Overall Purpose

• Loading and unloading of materials / Booking material in and out.
• Dimensional inspections / Creation of orders onto the system / Generating the relevant paper documentation and resolve any discrepancies.
• Maintain shipping documentation, manifests, and receipts; enter relevant data into the system as needed.
• Preparing orders for despatch. ;
• To print delivery notes and make sure that all details are filled out by drivers before release of goods.
• To police and make sure that all sub-contract drivers entering the facilities comply to internal PPE requirements.
• To maintain a good standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
• To undertake any additional duties as required.
• To work in accordance with all company H&S instructions at all times.
