Castle Employment Group is recruiting a Yard Operative to join an established steel manufacturing business near Wetherby, West Yorkshire. The role involves loading and unloading steel, operating sideloader and counterbalance forklifts, and moving materials safely around a busy yard.

You will be responsible for organising beams and materials, assisting production, and ensuring safety procedures are followed in all tasks.

Formación

• Experience in a yard, steel stockholding or manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating sideloader and counterbalance forklifts.
• Ability to handle large/heavy materials.
• Overhead crane experience would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of safe lifting and material handling.
• Comfortable working outdoors in a busy industrial environment.
• Able to follow health and safety procedures.
• Shunter experience would be beneficial.

Responsabilidades

• Load and unload structural steel materials from trailers.
• Operate sideloader and counterbalance forklift trucks.
• Move and organise steel beams and materials within the yard.
• Sort materials ready for production.
• Support the movement of steel into the cutting department.
• Use overhead cranes where required.
• Pick and prepare materials for manufacturing.
• Complete quality checks and relevant paperwork.
• Carry out pre-use checks on equipment.
• Maintain a safe, tidy and organised yard.

Yard Operative / Sideloader FLT Driver

Location: Wetherby, West Yorkshire

Salary: £14.60 per hour

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7am to 4.45pm

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The OpportunityCastle Employment Group is recruiting a Yard Operative to join an established steel manufacturing business near Wetherby.

This position would suit someone with experience working in a busy industrial yard, steel stockholding business or manufacturing environment who is confident handling heavy materials and operating forklift trucks.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring steel materials are safely received, organised and moved through the manufacturing process.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a yard, steel stockholding or manufacturing environment
• Experience operating sideloader and counterbalance forklift trucks
• Confident handling large or heavy materials
• Previous overhead crane experience would be advantageous
• Good understanding of safe lifting and material handling
• Comfortable working outdoors and in a busy industrial environment
• Able to work independently and follow health and safety procedures
• Previous shunter experience would be beneficial

Experience working with structural steel, beams or large metal sections would be particularly relevant.
