Job Purpose

A yard operative should be willing to operate mobile plant and learn to use on-site bagging machines. The role involves working in all weather conditions within a highly motivated team, with good communication skills being essential. Manual labor is a daily requirement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production of bagged aggregates.
• Maintain high health and safety standards, reporting issues, accidents, and near misses to the line manager.
• Work as part of a high-performing team to produce quality bagged aggregates for customers.
• Operate a forklift truck, depending on site requirements.
• Conduct inspections on fixed and mobile plant equipment.
• Bag aggregates into plastic and bulk bags to target levels, with training provided.
• Net and sheet lorries as requested by the line manager.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as needed.
• Maintain good communication with drivers, yard operatives, and delivery personnel.
• Ensure compliance with legal, HR, and health & safety duties to promote a safe workplace.

Knowledge, Training, and Experience

• Good knowledge of health and safety practices (preferable).
• Forklift truck license (preferable).
• Training will be provided; experience in these areas is an advantage.
