Job Purpose

A yard operative needs to be willing to drive mobile plant and learn to operate the bagging machines on site. They must be able to work in all weather conditions and collaborate within a highly motivated team, with good communication being fundamental. Manual work is required daily.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production of bagged aggregates.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, reporting issues, accidents, and near misses to the line manager.
• Work as part of a high-performing team to produce quality bagged aggregates for customers.
• Operate a forklift truck as required.
• Perform inspections on fixed and mobile plant equipment.
• Bag aggregates in plastic and bulk bags to target levels, with training provided.
• Net and sheet lorries as requested by the line manager.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as needed.
• Maintain good communication with drivers, yard operatives, and delivery personnel.
• Ensure compliance with legal and safety duties to promote a safe and equitable workplace.

Knowledge, Training, and Experience

• Good knowledge of health and safety practices (preferable).
• Training will be provided; experience in the relevant areas is advantageous.
