As a Yard Operative, you'll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the yard, handling deliveries, loading and unloading vehicles, and keeping the yard safe and organised for customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Valid RTITB forklift licence with relevant experience.
• Strong customer service skills for trade and retail customers.
• Physically fit for outdoor work and heavy lifting.
• Basic literacy and numeracy for deliveries and orders.
• Health and safety conscious with awareness of procedures.

Responsibilities

• Help customers find what they need with friendly, practical advice.
• Handle deliveries: check in goods, store safely, keep organised.
• Load and unload vehicles, coordinating with branch and driving teams.
• Look after the yard: keep it safe, tidy and secure.

As a Yard Operative, you'll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the yard. Here's what the job involves:

• Helping customers find what they need - offering friendly, practical advice and sharing your knowledge of the products
• Handling deliveries - checking in goods, storing them safely and keeping everything organised
• Loading and unloading vehicles - working closely with the branch and driving teams to keep everything moving
• Looking after the yard - keeping it safe, tidy and secure for the customers and colleagues

What you'll bring:

• Valid Forklift Counterballance RTITB licence with the relevant experience
• Customer Service Skills: You will interact directly with trade and retail customers, helping them locate materials and offering friendly, practical product advice.
• Physical Fitness: The role is physically demanding. You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and doing heavy lifting.
• Basic Literacy & Numeracy: Required for checking off incoming delivery notes, identifying stock anomalies, and accurately picking customer orders.
• Health & Safety Conscious: You must have a strict awareness of safety procedures to safely operate FLT around foot traffic and vehicles in a busy yard environment.
