Job summary

Lawsons (Whetstone) Ltd. is hiring a Yard Operative for our AVS Peterborough branch. This hands-on role supports receipt, storage and preparation of timber, building and landscaping products for customer collection and delivery, while helping keep the yard safe and well organised.

You will join a busy branch team, working outdoors in a physically demanding environment, using forklift equipment where required, and delivering friendly, reliable service to customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in a yard, warehouse or builders' merchant environment.
• Forklift license is required.
• Practical, dependable and customer-focused.
• Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding role.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Picking and preparing customer orders accurately.
• Organising and maintaining stock within the yard.
• Supporting customers with their collections and loading purchases where appropriate.
• Checking goods for quality and reporting any shortages or damage.
• Working closely with branch colleagues, drivers and the sales team.
• Keeping the yard, warehouse and surrounding areas clean, tidy and well organised.
• Following all company health and safety procedures.
• Using yard equipment responsibly and completing any required checks.
