Job summary

Lawsons Ltd. in the Whetstone branch is seeking a hands-on Yard Operative to support daily yard operations, ensuring safe handling, accurate stock management and high-quality service for trade and retail customers.

You will be physically capable, reliable and a team player, working with branch colleagues to maintain a safe, efficient yard environment and to meet branch targets and customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Previous yard/warehouse experience is essential.
• Capable of physically demanding tasks and outdoor work.
• Basic numeracy and literacy; follow instructions and paperwork.
• Good communication with customers and colleagues.
• Team player with colleagues across branches.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload and check deliveries of timber and materials.
• Store, stack and organise stock safely for retrieval.
• Assist customers at the yard and by phone with product advice.
• Prepare and load customer collections and deliveries.
• Operate yard equipment when trained and authorised.
• Maintain daily yard housekeeping and safety.
• Support stock counts, replenishment and yard duties.
• Comply with health and safety, manual handling and vehicle regs.
• Record incidents and damaged stock as per procedures.
