Job summary

Pertemps Plymouth is recruiting for a Yard Operative in Plymouth for a 2-month temporary assignment. The role involves outdoor duties, assisting customers, and supporting site operations. Shifts are 08:00–18:00 with a 4 on/4 off pattern, and Sundays have higher pay.

Comfortable working in all weather conditions is required. Primary duties include directing traffic, maintaining safety, handling manual tasks, and processing payments for applicable waste streams.

Yard Operative

Assignment: Temporary position for 2 Months

Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour (standard hours) / £16.00 per hour (Sundays)

Location: Plymouth

Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern, including weekend working, 08:00 - 18:00. This is an outdoor operational role, requiring work in all weather conditions.

About the Role

This hands on role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, providing excellent customer service, and contributing to the safe and efficient running of a public facing facility. You'll play a key role in supporting site operations, assisting customers, maintaining safety standards, and carrying out manual handling duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist members of the general public with high levels of customer service and providing clear guidance and support to site users.
• Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely around the site.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment at all times.
• Carry out manual handling activities in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Promote safe working practices and report hazards, incidents, or unsafe behaviours.
• Process customer payments for applicable chargeable waste streams accurately and professionally.
• Deliver excellent customer service and represent the site in a professional manner.
• Follow all operational procedures and health and safety guidelines.
