Job summary

Jewson Southampton Nutsey Lane is seeking a dedicated Yard Operative to join our friendly team. This full-time role covers yard, counter and shopfloor duties, with a focus on safe loading/unloading and delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll work Monday to Friday 07:30–17:00, plus every other Saturday 08:00–12:00. Training will be provided for forklift use and equipment, with opportunities to develop within a supportive, decently run merchant environment.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service experience.
• Clear and friendly communication with customers.
• Ability to work well in a team and contribute to a positive workplace.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge customers and identify their needs to deliver quick, efficient service.
• Ask open questions to understand current and future requirements and support customers effectively.
• Maintain high standards across the yard, counter and shopfloor.
• Operate machinery safely and assist with offloading, picking, packing, restocking and loading vehicles.
• Support initiatives to increase sales, margins and service levels.
• Continue to build knowledge of core and specialist product lines to meet customer needs.
• Manual and forklift loading/unloading of vehicles (training provided).
