Job summary

Driver Hire Torbay seeks a Yard Hand / Counterbalance Forklift Driver for their Newton Abbot operation. This full-time, Monday–Friday role involves heavy lifting, yard duties, and forklift tasks in a busy distribution environment.

The position requires a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence and prior experience. You will work in a physically demanding setting with a supportive team and clear health and safety procedures in place.

Qualifications

• A valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift Licence is essential.
• Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift.
• Happy to undertake heavy lifting and physically demanding work throughout the shift.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong awareness of health and safety in a yard environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck to load, unload and move stock around the yard.
• Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
• Carry out heavy lifting and manual handling as part of daily yard duties.
• Organise and maintain the yard, ensuring materials are stored safely and correctly.
• Pick and prepare customer orders.
• Keep the yard clean, tidy and safe at all times.
• Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.
• Support the wider team with general yard and warehouse duties as required.

Pay: £14.71 per hour (PAYE Advanced) - Other PAYE pay models available

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Yard Hand / Counterbalance Forklift Driver to join their busy team in Newton Abbot.

Please note: This is a physically demanding position involving heavy lifting throughout the working day. It is not suitable for candidates seeking light-duty work, and applicants must be happy to carry out regular manual handling duties alongside operating a forklift.
