Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is seeking a practical Yard & Delivery Driver for a full-time, permanent role in Albourne, West Sussex. You will safely load and unload machinery, drive a 3.5T flatbed van, and deliver or collect items to customers.

The role combines driving, yard duties and basic assembly, with 39 hours per week and overtime after 39 hours. Training provided for equipment handling, plus benefits such as pension and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with clean record preferred.
• Experience towing trailers desirable.
• Experience in delivery, driving, yard or similar hands-on role.
• Understanding of safe loading, unloading and securing machinery.
• Physically fit for manual duties and machinery.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Flexibility to work varying hours including early starts or longer journeys.
• Experience in horticultural/agricultural/construction sectors advantageous.
• Forklift licence or similar qualifications desirable.
• Good knowledge of East and West Sussex advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload machinery using equipment and securing methods; training provided.
• Drive a range of vehicles, including a 3.5T flatbed van, to collect and deliver machinery and parts.
• Follow routes to ensure on-time deliveries and collections.
• Carry out grounds maintenance (mowing, strimming, leaf blowing).
• Conduct vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Support stores team with stock movements between goods-in areas and storage.
• Complete delivery paperwork and record journeys and deliveries.
• Carry out basic assembly work (e.g., wheelbarrows).
• Assist customers with purchases and repairs of horticultural machinery.
• Follow health and safety procedures when transporting, loading and handling machinery.
• Undertake general yard duties (painting, drain clearance, sweeping, depot upkeep).

Yard & Delivery Driver

Location: Albourne, West Sussex, BN6 9BN

Hours: 39 hours per week

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload machinery using appropriate equipment and securing methods. Training can be provided.
• Drive a range of vehicles, including a 3.5T flatbed van, to collect and deliver machinery, parts and goods to customers.
• Follow designated routes efficiently, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
• Carry out general grounds maintenance, including mowing, strimming and leaf blowing.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.
• Support the stores team, including moving and organising stock between goods-in areas and storage containers.
• Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records of journeys and deliveries.
• Carry out basic assembly work, such as assembling wheelbarrows and similar equipment.
• Assist customers with purchases and repairs of horticultural machinery, providing a friendly and professional service.
• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures when transporting, loading and handling machinery.
• Undertake general yard duties as required, including painting, drain clearance, sweeping and maintaining a clean and presentable depot.

About You

• A full UK driving licence; a clean licence or minimal points is preferred.
• Experience towing trailers; relevant trailer licence entitlement is desirable.
• Previous experience in a delivery, driving, yard or similar hands on role.
• A good understanding of safe loading, unloading and securing of machinery.
• The physical fitness required to handle machinery and carry out manual duties.
• The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication, organisation and time‑management skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work varying hours when required, including early starts or later finishes for longer‑distance journeys.
• Experience within the horticultural, agricultural or construction sectors would be advantageous.
• A forklift licence or other relevant qualifications would be desirable.
• Good geographical knowledge of East and West Sussex would be an advantage.
