Job summary

LBS Builders Merchants Ltd is seeking a Yard Assistant / Relief LGV Driver in Aberystwyth. The role combines yard and warehouse duties with occasional LGV driving responsibilities, supporting the branch team and ensuring stock and deliveries run smoothly.

You will handle loading, stock checks, and customer assistance in the yard, while training may be provided for forklift and Hiab operations. A professional appearance and safety focus are essential to success in this varied role.

Qualifications

• Valid LGV Class 2 driving licence.
• Up-to-date CPC and Hiab experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Help customers with orders and loading materials safely into their vehicles.
• Pick, check, and prepare stock for deliveries and collections.
• Loading vehicles for delivery.
• Maintain stock accuracy and replenish shelves.
• Assist with unloading supplier vehicles and storing goods safely.
• Operate forklifts safely (training provided if required).
• Conduct regular stock checks and merchandising.
• Keep the yard clean, tidy and safe at all times.
• Safely operate company vehicles and perform daily inspections as relief LGV driver.
• Deliver products to customers and obtain signatures.
• Secure loads correctly using tarpaulins and cranes where trained.
• Represent the company on the road with professionalism and courtesy.
• Provide first-class service to every customer.

Yard Assistant/Relief LGV Driver

Location: Aberystwyth

Do you enjoy working outdoors, supporting customers, and getting behind the wheel? We’re looking for a Yard Assistant / Relief LGV Driver to join our busy BRANCHteam. This is a varied role where you’ll support the smooth running of the yard and warehouse while also stepping in to cover LGV driving duties when required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

In the Yard & Warehouse:

• Help customers with orders and loading materials safely into their vehicles.
• Pick, check, and prepare stock for deliveries and collections.
• Loading the vehicles ready for delivery.
• Maintain stock accuracy, replenish shelves, and keep the yard well-presented.
• Assist with unloading supplier vehicles and storing goods safely.
• Operate forklifts safely (training provided if required)
• Support with regular stock checks and merchandising.
• Keep the yard clean, tidy, and safe at all times.

As a Relief LGV Driver:

• Safely operate company vehicles, following all road laws and company policies.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and ensure accurate documentation.
• Secure loads correctly, using tarpaulins and cranes where trained.
• Deliver products to customers, ensuring goods are signed for.
• Represent the company on the road with professionalism and courtesy.
• Provide first-class service to every customer

What We’re Looking For:

• A valid LGV Class 2 driving licence.
• Up to date CPC and Hiab experience would be advantageous.

Hours of work:An average of 40.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7.30am – 4.30pm, plus every other Saturday morning from 8.00am until 12.00pm.

Salary:£27,162.50per annum
