Job summary

St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School in Wigan invites applications for a class teacher to cover maternity leave in a Year 2 class. The school values excellent relationships with parents, Church and the local community and requires proven experience with primary children and strong behaviour management and communication skills.

The post is full-time, temporary until 21 July 2027, with interview on 12 October 2026.

Qualifications

Experience of working with primary school children.
Excellent organisation and communication skills to deal with both children and adults.
Ability to work under supervision and as a team member.

Responsibilities

Provide exciting and challenging learning experiences for pupils.
Follow the school curriculum to support progression and learning journeys.
Monitor, assess, record and report pupil achievement, progress and development.
Provide support to pupils with barriers to learning on a one-to-one basis, in small groups or in class.
Develop and implement individual plans for pupils.
Adjust lessons and/or work plans as appropriate.
Provide objective feedback and reports on pupils’ achievement.
Produce learning resources and collaborate with others.
Deliver local and national learning strategies.
Contribute to policy and procedure development.
Carry out duties efficiently and continue personal development.
Participate in staff appraisal and development process.
Motivate and lead a teaching assistant.
