Job summary

Theatr na nÓg invites five Welsh or Wales-based playwrights to spend two days exploring the company’s award-winning project for schools’ audiences. This paid opportunity seeks writers with a strong voice who want to create theatre for children aged 8–11 and who are eager to collaborate in developing new theatre for schools.

Workshop Dates: Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 October 2026. Venue: Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea and Theatr na nÓg, Neath.

Qualifications

• At least one professional credit as a writer.
• Willing to collaborate to develop new theatre for schools.
• Interest in creating work for children aged 8–11.
• Five Wales-based playwrights will be selected to participate.

Responsibilities

• Develop new scripts for schools as part of the project.
• Collaborate with Theatr na nÓg and peers during the two-day workshop.

Theatr na nÓg is launching an exciting new opportunity for fiveWelsh or Wales-based playwrights to spend two days with Theatr na nÓg to discover more about the company’s award-winning project for their schools’ audience.

This is a paid opportunity aimed at those who would like to create theatre which encapsulates our core values – Joy, People and Wonder.

We are looking for playwrights with a strong individual voice, an interest in creating work for children aged 8–11, and a willingness to collaborate in developing new theatre for schools.

Applicants should have had at leastone professional credit as a writer(see information pack for details). Our aim is to create new collaborations, celebrate this vital and ambitious work and ultimately commission new scripts specifically for this audience.
