Job summary

Lincoln Minster School invites applications for a Writer-in-Residence to enrich literacy and creative writing across the school, supporting reading, writing, speaking and literary engagement.

You will work closely with the Associate Assistant Head for Oracy and the English Subject Lead to develop confidence, creativity and communication among students, through enrichment activities, mentoring and practical departmental support.

Qualifications

• Practising writer or equivalent with a passion for literature and education.
• Experience or interest in literacy initiatives and mentoring.
• Ability to engage and inspire students in reading and writing.

Responsibilities

Lincoln Minster School is seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Writer-in-Residence (Literacy and Literary Enrichment) to support and enhance the school's vibrant culture of reading, writing, speaking and literary engagement.

Working closely with the Associate Assistant Head for Oracy (and English Subject Lead), the successful candidate will play a key role in developing students' confidence, creativity and communication skills through a combination of enrichment activities, literacy initiatives, mentoring and practical departmental support.

This exciting and flexible role would suit a practising writer, former teacher, literacy specialist, journalist, editor, librarian, publishing professional or any individual with a passion for literature, reading and communication and a desire to share that enthusiasm with young people.

The successful candidate will contribute to the school's wider literacy strategy, including supporting the LMS Reads and LMS Talks programmes in collaboration with the Associate Assistant Head for Oracy (and English Subject Lead), helping to foster a culture in which reading, writing and oracy are valued across all age groups.

The role has been deliberately designed to offer flexibility. Whilst a significant focus is likely to be around the lunchtime co‑curricular programme (1.30-2.10pm), Lincoln Minster School welcomes applications from candidates who wish to shape the residency around their own expertise, interests and professional commitments. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the school to develop a programme of support and enrichment which benefits students whilst drawing upon their own skills and experience.

The role is for 15 hours a week, term time only; however, as noted above, this is entirely flexible for the right candidate. The start date for this role is asap.
