Job summary

St Margaret's CE Primary School in Durham is seeking a dedicated Wraparound Club Assistant for a permanent part-time role of 22.5 hours per week (07:15-08:45 breakfast; 15:10-18:10 tea club). The post requires flexible hours and a safeguarding mindset to create a safe, engaging environment for children at the start of the school day.

Experience with children in play, childcare or school settings is preferred.

We are looking for a dedicated and creative Wraparound Club assistant to join the thriving wraparound care provision at our friendly and welcoming primary school. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children at the beginning of the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging activities that cater to a range of interests and age groups
• Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all children attending the club
• Supervise and support children's play, social interactions, and well-being
• Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and external agencies as needed
• Maintain health and safety standards and safeguarding procedures at all times

The successful applicant will:

• Have experience working with children in a play, childcare, or school setting
• Be a friendly, enthusiastic, and responsible individual who enjoys working with children
• Have strong organisational skills and the ability to lead a small team
• A commitment to providing a safe and engaging environment

This position is paid whole time with retainer adjustments applied to periods of school closure. You will not be required to work during the school closure periods however your salary in these periods will be adjusted accordingly in line with the retainer regulations as specified in the National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book agreement.
