Job summary

Haywood Village Academy in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a caring Playworker to help create a safe, engaging play environment for children during term-time. You will support play provision, plan activities reflecting children's interests, and promote wellbeing and safeguarding while working as part of a supportive team.

The role is permanent, part-time (3.75 hours per week, Mon–Wed) with a pro-rated salary in the CLF Grade Aii range; benefits include LGPS pension, generous annual leave, health

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support a safe, stimulating and inclusive play provision for children.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging play activities reflecting children's interests.
  • Promote positive behaviour and build relationships with children, carers and colleagues.
  • Ensure children's welfare and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
  • Prepare and maintain play resources, equipment and refreshments with food hygiene in mind.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth provision operations and record-keeping.

Actual Annual Salary:£2,199 - £2,236, based on working weeks and hours.

Full Time Equivalent Salary:£25,949 - £26,392 (CLF Grade Aii) Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract:Permanent, Term Time Only

Hours:3.75 per week (Monday - Wednesday)

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Playworker to help deliver a safe, inclusive and stimulating play provision for children. Working as part of a supportive team, you will help create enjoyable play opportunities that support children's social, emotional, physical and creative development, while ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of a safe, stimulating and inclusive play provision for children.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging play activities that reflect children's interests and individual needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and build strong relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
  • Ensure children's welfare is prioritised and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining play resources, equipment and refreshments, following food hygiene requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the provision and maintain accurate records where required.
About You

You will:

  • Have an understanding of the varied needs of children and families.

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and active listening.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team whilst using your own initiative when needed.
