Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd in West Bromwich is seeking an experienced Workshop Winder to join a busy engineering workshop. The role focuses on the testing, repair and rewinding of AC/DC motors, delivering high-quality work to customer timescales.

You will perform motor winding and rewinds, armature rewinding, testing and faults diagnosis, and ensure compliance with HSE procedures while working on motors up to 20 tonnes.

Qualifications

• Hands-on motor winding/rewinding experience (AC/DC).
• Strong practical skillset and testing/winding knowledge.
• Formal winding qualification or strong informal training.

Responsibilities

• Winding and rewinding AC/DC motors in workshop.
• Test windings and identify faults.
• Undercutting (commutator insulation) and testing work.
• Work on motors up to 20 tonnes.
• Maintain workshop standards and follow H&S procedures.

Shift: Monday to Friday (39 hours)

Location: West Brom, West Midlands

A major client is seeking an experienced Workshop Winder to join a busy engineering workshop in West Bromwich. This is a hands-on role focused on the testing, repair and rewinding of AC/DC electrical motors, delivering high-quality work to customer timescales.

The role includes AC/DC motor winding and rewinds, armature rewinding, hand winding, connection and testing of windings, undercutting (commutator insulation), and drop testing/bar-to-bar testing to identify faults. You may work on motors up to 20 tonnes, while maintaining workshop standards and following all H&S procedures.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of Workshop Winder:

• Hands-on motor winding/rewinding experience (AC/DC).

Essential requirements of Workshop Winder:

• strong practical skillset
• confidence with testing and winding principles.

Desirable Requirements of Workshop Winder:

• Formal winding qualification/training (or strong informal training with core principles).
