Job summary

U-Drive Vehicle Hire is hiring a Workshop Vehicle Technician for our Bristol branch on a permanent basis. The role features a 42-hour week, Monday to Friday, and close collaboration with the Operations team to prioritise and schedule repairs, maintenance, and inspections of mainly light commercial vehicles.

Ideal candidates hold at least a Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 3 preferred), with 2 years’ experience, strong technical and diagnostic skills, and a valid UK driving

Qualifications

• At least Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair; Level 3 preferred.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a mechanic with strong LCV focus.
• Demonstrable technical, electrical, and diagnostic expertise.
• Full UK driving licence; eligible to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Operations to coordinate and prioritise works.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on customer and U-Drive vehicles, mainly LCVs.
• Conduct test drives, inspections, and diagnostics to identify issues.
• Execute preventive maintenance inspections for safety and roadworthiness.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT.
• Service and maintain all vehicles to high standards.
• Keep workshop clean, safe and organised; maintain records.

About The Role

Workshop Vehicle Technician Position at our Bristol branch.

Become a vital part of our growing team! We are currently offering a permanent position for a Workshop Vehicle Technician. The standard work week is 42 hours, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise closely with the Operations team in coordinating and prioritising works
• Perform scheduled maintenance on both customer and U-Drive vehicles, primarily LCVs with some cars
• Conduct test drives, inspections, and diagnostic tests to identify and address vehicle issues
• Execute preventive maintenance inspections, guaranteeing the safety and roadworthiness of all vehicles
• Prepare vehicles for MOT
• Service and maintain all vehicles to the highest standard
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
• Maintain accurate records for works completed and parts used

Requirements

• At least a Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair; a Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical, Maintenance, and Repair is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Mechanic, with strong LCV experience
• Demonstrable technical, electrical, and diagnostic expertise
• Experience with tablet-based job recording and clear written communication on tablet-based jobs
• Full UK driving licence
• Eligible to work in the UK
