Job summary

Plantexpand is hiring in Canning Town to service and repair fleet vans and light commercial vehicles. You will diagnose faults with modern equipment, perform safety inspections, and carry out tail lift servicing in a busy workshop before handing vehicles back ready for the road.

The role is full-time with a 7am start, a 4:30pm finish, and a 45-hour workweek. A clear career path from technician to supervisor is available within a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 or Level 3 light vehicle qualification (IMI, City & Guilds or similar), or equivalent experience
• Experience working independently, including diagnostics
• Your own hand tools (we supply specialist tools and diagnostics)
• A full UK driving licence

East London's utility vans, kept on the road from Canning Town.

Plantexpand maintains the plant and vehicles behind the UK's water, power, gas and telecoms networks, working for national utilities, councils, government and operators of critical sites. Our Canning Town fleet workshop keeps utility vans and light commercial vehicles safe, legal and on the road, taking the jobs that need a ramp and a full bay. You'll work alongside our planning team and partner suppliers.

What you'll work on

• Fleet vans and light commercial vehicles
  
• Tail lifts
  

A typical day

• First thing: get set up for the day's jobs on site from 7am.
  
• Through the day: services, safety inspections and larger repairs that need a ramp and a full bay, plus diagnostics on vans brought in from the road.
  
• End of the day: finish your job reports and hand vehicles back ready for the road, finishing at 4:30pm.

Where it can lead

You can progress from technician to senior technician and supervisor, with cross-training into other disciplines.

Hours

Full time, Monday to Friday: 45 hours a week, plus 2.5 hours of paid meal breaks across the week.
