Plantexpand is seeking a skilled vehicle technician to service and repair utility vans and light commercial vehicles on customer sites around Birmingham. You'll work from a fully stocked van, using in-house diagnostics and required equipment to fix faults first time.

The role includes servicing PTO systems, hydraulics, and body-fitted equipment, with on-site safety checks and occasional LOLER examinations on applicable gear.

Formación

• A Level 2 or Level 3 vehicle qualification (IMI, City & Guilds or similar) or equivalent experience.
• Own hand tools (specialist tools and diagnostics supplied by us).
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Comfortable working on your own, on site.

Responsabilidades

• Service and repair PTO systems, hydraulics and body-fitted equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and fix them first time where possible.

• Log every job on a tablet, close the job and coordinate with service controllers.

Vans, PTOs and tail lifts around Birmingham. Fixed first time.

Keep the utility vehicles around Birmingham safe, legal and working, from the van itself to the power take-offs and body-fitted equipment that do the job on site. You'll work from a fully stocked van with the vehicle's history in your hand before you arrive. Plantexpand maintains the plant and vehicles behind the UK's water, power, gas and telecoms networks, working for national utilities, councils, government and operators of critical sites. Around 95% of our work is done on site, and we empower our engineers to fix first time, with an eight bay workshop, a planning team and our partner suppliers behind them.

What you'll work on

• Utility vans and light commercial vehicles
• PTO units and hydraulic power packs
• Tail lifts, vehicle-mounted cranes and winches
• On-board power, inverters and PTO-driven compressors

A typical day

• First thing: check your schedule and van stock, then head to your first site, arriving between 7am and 8am.
• Through the day: planned services and inspections on vans and their PTO and body-fitted equipment, finding and fixing faults on site.
• When it's needed: breakdowns and urgent repairs, and collecting parts when a job needs them.
• End of the day: finish your job reports on your tablet.

What you'll do

• Log every job on a tablet (photos, hours and parts used), close the job, raise follow-on repairs and talk directly to our service controllers

What you need

• A Level 2 or Level 3 vehicle qualification (IMI, City & Guilds or similar), or equivalent experience
• Your own hand tools (we supply specialist tools and diagnostics)
• A full UK driving licence
• Happy working on your own, out on site

Nice to have

• PTO, tail lift or vehicle-mounted hydraulic experience (training available for strong vehicle technicians)
• Mobile or roadside experience

Where it can lead

You can progress from technician to senior technician and supervisor, with cross-training into other disciplines.

Hours

Full time, Monday to Friday: 45 hours a week, plus 2.5 hours of paid meal breaks across the week. You are paid door to door, from when you leave home.

What you get

• £41,000 to £45,000 a year, plus overtime and enhanced overtime
• Discretionaryperformance bonus: paid quarterly, based on company targets
• £200 a week when you are on the on-call rota, plus enhanced overtime and call-out payments
