Job summary

Interventek, an innovative subsea engineering company in Aberdeen, is expanding its workshop team. The Workshop Technician will support the assembly, inspection, and testing of high-integrity equipment in line with drawings, procedures and company standards.

This role emphasizes safety, product quality and traceability, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement in a collaborative workshop environment.

Qualifications

  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in an engineering workshop environment.
  • Experience in subsea/oil & gas or high-integrity engineering environments preferred.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, inspection and testing.
  • Experience using test equipment for hydrostatic, pneumatic/gas, thermal and functional testing.

Responsibilities

  • Review work packages, verify components, undertake assembly and redress activities, complete documentation.
  • Configure equipment and carry out hydrostatic, pneumatic/gas, thermal and functional testing; record results and report abnormalities.
  • Ensure workshop tooling, plant and test equipment are used safely and correctly; maintain a clean, safe workspace.

Job Summary

The Workshop Technician will join our engineering workshop teamto support the assembly, maintenance, inspection, and testing of high-integrity mechanical and subsea equipment. They will work in accordance with approved drawings, procedures, work instructions and company standards, with a strong focus on HSE, product quality, traceability and the safe execution of workshop activities.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. Modern Apprenticeship, SVQ/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within an engineering workshop environment.
  • Experience within subsea, oil & gas, pressure equipment or another high-integrity engineering environment is preferred.
  • Experience of mechanical assembly, maintenance, inspection and testing.
  • Experience using test equipment and systems including hydrostatic, pneumatic/gas, thermal and functional testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, pneumatic circuit diagrams and hydraulic schematics.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic connections and associated workshop practices.
  • Strong awareness of HSE requirements and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Ability to identify defects, abnormalities and non-conformances and raise these through the appropriate processes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate workshop documentation, including build, inspection, test and traceability records.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently within defined procedures and competency limits.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet business and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Redress
  • Review work packages; Verify components; Undertake assembly and redress activities; Complete required documentation.
Testing
  • Review procedures, requirements and acceptance criteria; Verify test equipment and instrumentation; Configure equipment and carry out hydrostatic, pneumatic/gas, thermal and functional testing; Record test results and report abnormalities
Workshop & Equipment
  • Ensure workshop tooling, plant and test equipment are used correctly and safely Report defects, damage or concerns; Maintain a clean, safe and organised workspace; Support workshop housekeeping, continuous improvement and HSE initiatives.
Working Within Competence
  • Technicians will be expected to work within their training, competence and authorisation, seeking appropriate guidance where activities fall outside their experience or approved procedures.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a safety-first approach, attention to detail and a commitment to quality, while maintaining full product traceability throughout all workshop activities.
