Job summary

Blackburn College is seeking a Workshop Supervisor in Engineering to lead the operation and development of the engineering workshops and labs, ensuring facilities, equipment, and resources are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

You will provide technical leadership to staff and students, manage resources, and contribute to high-quality teaching and assessment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Level 2 English and Maths qualifications.
• Experience supervising workshops/labs and knowledge of health and safety.

Workshop Supervisor- Engineering

Salary £29,947 to £32,715 gross per annum

The Role

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for the effective management, operation, and development of the engineering workshops/labs to support high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment. The role ensures that workshops/labs facilities, equipment, and resources are safe, compliant, industry-relevant, and fit for purpose, while providing technical leadership and support to staff and students.

What we are looking for

• We require applicants who have a Level 3 qualification or above in an engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics) and a Level 2 qualification in English and maths.
• You should have practical experience working in an engineering workshop/lab or industrial environment and experience of managing/supervising workshops/labs facilities, equipment, or technical resources.
• You will also need Demonstrable experience of applying health and safety legislation in a practical environment.
