Job summary

Bolton Council is seeking a Workshop Supervisor for the Vehicle Maintenance Workshop to lead the day-to-day operations, ensuring maintenance, repair and compliance of the council's fleet. The role supports high safety standards, service delivery and cost-efficiency, helping keep essential services running smoothly.

With 37 hours per week, candidates should have supervisory experience and the ability to manage a busy workshop while maintaining quality work and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Studies or City & Guilds Level 3 (Light & Large Goods Vehicles) required.
• Full driving licence required.
• Minimum 4 years as a skilled Motor Vehicle Technician; supervisory experience desirable.

The Role

Bolton Council is seeking Workshop Supervisor for our Vehicle Maintenance Workshop, to join our dedicated team responsible for maintaining the council's fleet. You will lead and supervise the day-to-day operations of the vehicle workshop, ensuring the effective maintenance, repair, and compliance of the organisation's fleet.

this role is eligible for tool allowance which can be discussed late at the interview stage.

About You

You'll be an experienced and motivated Motor Vehicle Technician with a minimum of 4 years as skilled Motor Vehicle Technician and supervisory experience is desirable. Ideally, you'll also have experience of working on a variety of heavy goods vehicles with good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

You'll have a passion for delivering high-quality work and you'll be an effective member of the team who takes pride keeping the fleet mobile and operational.

Good organisation, written and oral communication skills, and the ability build productive partnerships and relationships in problem-solving are essential.

You'll be required to have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to cover different shift patterns over the working week (Monday to Friday).
