Job summary

Bolton Council is seeking a Workshop Supervisor for our Vehicle Maintenance Workshop to lead the day-to-day operations, ensuring the fleet is well maintained, safe and compliant.

You will manage a skilled team, coordinate repairs and servicing for various vehicles, and drive cost-efficiency while upholding high standards of service delivery and safety. A full driving licence and NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds Level 3 are essential.

Qualifications

  • 4 years minimum as a skilled Motor Vehicle Technician.
  • Supervisory experience desirable.
  • Experience working on heavy goods vehicles with diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise day-to-day operations of the vehicle workshop.
  • Ensure maintenance, repair and compliance of the fleet.
  • Promote safety, service delivery, and cost-efficiency.

City and Guilds Level 3 (Light and Large Goods Vehicles)

Grade H scp 27 £38,220 to scp 31 £41,771 pay award pending

Contract: Permanent

Essential qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Studies (Light and Large Goods Vehicles) or City and Guilds Level 3 (Light and Large Goods Vehicles)

Essential requirement: full driving licence

The Role

Bolton Council is seeking Workshop Supervisor for our Vehicle Maintenance Workshop, to join our dedicated team responsible for maintaining the council’s fleet. You will lead and supervise the day-to-day operations of the vehicle workshop, ensuring the effective maintenance, repair, and compliance of the organisation’s fleet.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive environment, ensuring high standards of safety, service delivery, and cost-efficiency, where your skills will support the continuous improvement in fleet operations and help to keep essential services running smoothly.

this role is eligible for tool allowance which can be discussed late at the interview stage.

About You

You’ll be an experienced and motivated Motor Vehicle Technician with a minimum of 4 years as skilled Motor Vehicle Technician and supervisory experience is desirable. Ideally, you’ll also have experience of working on a variety of heavy goods vehicles with good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

You’ll have a passion for delivering high-quality work and you’ll be an effective member of the team who takes pride keeping the fleet mobile and operational.

Good organisation, written and oral communication skills, and the ability build productive partnerships and relationships in problem-solving are essential.

You’ll be required to have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to cover different shift patterns over the working week (Monday to Friday).
