Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead the vehicle workshop and MOT testing centre, ensuring safe, compliant and reliable fleet operations for frontline services.
You will drive maintenance programmes, supervise a technical team and uphold DVSA standards, health and safety and quality assurance, while seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery across the borough.
We're looking for a Workshop Manager to manage the day-to-day operation of our busy vehicle workshop and MOT testing facility.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key leadership role, ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant and ready to support the essential services that local communities rely on every day.
Working closely with colleagues, operational teams, suppliers and regulatory bodies, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-performing fleet service. A key focus of the role is the effective management of scheduled and preventative maintenance programmes, ensuring timely defect identification and clearance to keep vehicles safe, compliant, reliable and ready to support essential services across the borough.
As Workshop Manager, you will have responsible for the Council's vehicle workshop and Class 4, 5 and 7 MOT testing centre. Reporting to the Fleet Services Manager, you will oversee planned preventative maintenance programmes, manage and develop a skilled team, and ensure compliance with DVSA standards and Operator Licence requirements.
You will drive high standards in health and safety, quality assurance and operational performance, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery. This is a varied and rewarding role where your leadership will have a direct impact on keeping the Council's fleet moving and supporting frontline services that make a difference to our communities every day.
