Job summary

Rubberatkins, Ltd. invites applications for a Workshop Testing Technician in Aberdeen. You will join a hands-on team supporting HPHT elastomer development, assembling test rigs, running tests, and reporting results.

Collaboration with R&D engineers is essential to ensure high quality and reliability of products. The role requires practical problem-solving, attention to detail and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience with pressure testing in an engineering environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, procedures and test requirements.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Desirable: qualifications in mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build pressure test rigs from drawings and procedures.
• Conduct pressure testing following established protocols.
• Record, maintain and report test data and results accurately.
• Monitor stock levels of workshop consumables and equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot test system equipment.

Rubberatkins is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Workshop Testing Technician to join our team in Aberdeen. This hands‑on role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and testing of innovative elastomer products designed for demanding high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) applications.

Working closely with our R&D Engineers, you will play a key role in assembling and maintaining test systems, carrying out testing programmes, and helping to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.

We are seeking an individual with experience in pressure testing or a similar engineering environment, who can confidently interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures, and test requirements. You will bring a practical, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, is essential. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and build pressure test rigs in accordance with technical drawings and procedures
• Conduct pressure testing in line with established test protocols
• Accurately record, maintain, and report test data and results
• Monitor and maintain stock levels of workshop consumables
• Maintain and troubleshoot test system equipment

Desirable

• Hands‑on experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting test equipment
• Familiarity with SCADA systems
• NQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable
• Relevant workshop, testing, manufacturing, or engineering experience will also be considered

We are open to candidates who are willing to work either permanent night shifts or a standard three‑shift rotation. Please note that training for the permanent night shift role will be completed during normal office hours and will not attract a shift allowance until the individual moves onto nights.
