Job summary

Talent-UK Ltd are recruiting on behalf of their client for a full time Temporary Workshop Operative working with steel. The role is temporary initially with potential for permanence depending on orders. Hours are 7.30am–4pm, full-time with some flexibility.

Key duties include measuring, marking, cutting and finishing steel components, plus assisting production and material movement using cranes or forklifts. Safety and PPE are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing workshop desirable.
• Basic welding skills desirable.
• Confident with heavy lifting and manual handling.
• Able to work in a busy environment.
• Willing to learn and switched on.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery.
• Team player willing to help with general labour tasks.

Responsibilities

• Measure, mark out, cut, and punch steel sections using saws, drills, and shears.
• Grind, trim, and polish/spray fabricated steel components using angle grinders and air tools.
• Move heavy steel parts around the shop floor using overhead cranes, slings, or forklifts.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy, and organized to maintain safety standards.
• Wear PPE and follow all company health and safety rules.

Talent-UK are recruiting on behalf of their client for a full time Temporary Workshop Operative working with Steel - This role is offered on a Temp basis initially with the opportunity potentially of a permanent role depending on company orders - Full time 8 hours per day = 7.30am - 4pm ( flexible)

Key Responsibilities

• Material Preparation: Measure, mark out, cut, and punch steel sections using saws, drills, and shears.
• Good with measurements
• Component Finishing: Grind, trim, and polish/spray fabricated steel components using angle grinders and air tools.
• Assisting Production: Move heavy steel parts around the shop floor using overhead cranes, slings, or forklifts.
• Workshop Upkeep: Keep the work area clean, tidy, and organized to maintain safety standards.
• Safety Compliance: Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all company health and safety rules

Requirements and Skills

• Experience: Previous work in a metal fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing workshop - Desirable
• Basic Welding skills - Desirable
• Confident with heavy lifting and manual handling and standing for long shifts
• Switched on - willing to learn
• Able to work in a busy environment
• Tool Knowledge: Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
• Team Player: Willingness to help other fabricators and pitch in with general labour tasks
