Job summary

Pertemps North West and North Wales are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager in Warrington to oversee maintenance, servicing and repair of specialist light plant used for airfield work. The role combines hands-on mechanical work with coordinating workshop activities and mobile breakdown support across multiple sites.

You will manage preventative maintenance, ensure safety standards and reliability, and lead a small team including apprentices where required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Plant Fitter, Mechanical Engineer or Field Service Engineer with light plant and specialist equipment.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Proactive maintenance mindset with good problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel to remote or secure sites and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and safety checks.
• Attend airfield sites to resolve equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Maintain service records, inspection reports and compliance documentation.
• Source parts, manage spares and liaise with suppliers.
• Support testing, commissioning, upgrades and modifications.
• Undertake minor fabrication and coordinate external fabrication needs.
• Ensure a safe, tidy workshop and service vehicle.
